The Who Behind this Site

Hey there, and thanks for checking out my San Francisco Travel Guide!

My name is Tanja, and I'm a California native who has been happily living in and around San Francisco for the last 30+ years.

I love this amazing city and all it has to offer, and when I travel to other places I always feel really lucky to be able to say that this is my home!

As someone who lives here, I've had the opportunity to get to know San Francisco intimately, and that knowledge is what I hope to share with you...

So Why Write a San Francisco Travel Guide?

Well, I have a lot of reasons really... The decision to start writing this guide was a culmination of several factors.

The first one is that I love to travel.

In fact, I just recently got back from a trip around the world.

One of the reasons I wanted to write this guide was that this is exactly the type of information that I was looking for whenever I was researching a new place.

Insider information from a local's perspective!

Secondly, I love San Francisco. Writing this travel guide is a way to give back to a place that has given me so much.

And last but not least, I feel qualified.

Aside from having lived here for many years and having a lot of passion for this city, I also have a great amount of experience showing this city to friends and relatives who visit from out of town.

I am a native Californian, but I am also a first-generation American. I have tons of friends and family overseas, and whenever they come I have the privilege of playing host and showing them the best San Francisco has to offer.

And there is a lot to show them!

Nestled between ocean, bay and mountains, wine country and beaches, the surrounding natural beauty of San Francisco - alone - is stunning. It’s not just the natural beauty that is so captivating though, although that would probably be enough.

The Victorian homes lend the city a romantic, European flair, and the nighttime diversions are endless. And with it's rich history of independent thinkers and daring entrepreneurial minds, as well as being a place of incredible diversity and creative expression, it won't take you long to understand why San Francisco has captured the hearts of so many people.

There really is something here for everyone.

I always enjoy seeing a place from the perspective of a local, and I hope this San Francisco Travel Guide helps you to do just that.

I welcome you warmly to this awesome city by the bay, and hope that you love it here as much as I do!
